What To Do in a Hotel that Smells Really Bad

Be Warned. If you plan on staying in Jackson, Mississippi steer very clear of the Horizon Inn and Suites.

The rooms smell like mold. Or death. Or death by mold.

The carpets are so dirty that Willow's feet turned black while she crawled around in them.

But we were tired from an all night drive from Aransas Pass to Jackson -- that's about a 12 hour drive. And we already had hit the Hobby Lobby  in insectopia  (Insectopia is that place that exists in most sizable communities where all Big Box stores cluster together, tempting people to shop and eat and shop and eat). It was a million degrees and humid outside making a park hang less that ideal, and so we ended up spending the summer-like afternoon in the room. While Dave caught up on sleep from the all night drive, I played with the girls. And we had a pony party.

We made hats and balloons and pinatas and a cake.

And so even though the room was so awful and smelly and wrong, we had a lovely afternoon creating our own world.  Making lemonade and all that. It's what we do.

It was really, really fun.

Just so you know, Lisel took the  above picture. My daughter can take pictures. I mean, how cool is that?
