The Big News (or why I dropped off the blogging radar!)

So, by now, I expect that many of you think that I've given up blogging for good. Or maybe I've switched the focus of my blog to talking about my new record. Or maybe, you just figured I didn't have much to say. Or that I was flat out exhausted. Or busy. Or maybe it hasn't really concerned you too much (what, I'm not foremost in your thoughts? Get out of town!)

But the fact is, I haven't been writing to the Interweb for a while. And the reason? Well, I was exhausted from the big trip. And I have been busy. And, well, I'm pregnant.

I've been putting off telling people our big news for a number of reasons. First off, I flat out wanted to wait. With Lisel we told everyone right away, like at 2 weeks. And the news spread quickly...it even got mentioned on the radio! And I was unprepared for the anxiety that so many people knowing would cause. The first trimester, especially the first first trimester, is such a fragile time, both mentally and physically. I was petrified for 3 months, unsure that I could really be pregnant, or that things could really be okay. The idea of having to tell everyone who knew me if something went wrong...it just made me even more petrified.

And anyone who knows me well will knows that I'm highly superstitious. Telling so many people so early seemed like the ultimate fate temptation! Not smart, I thought, not smart at all.

And so this time, we decided to wait.

We let the cat out of the bag at two months to some people, and I thought for a second that I was ready to blog about it. But every time I say down at the keyboard, the old superstition set in.

"That's an awful lot of people you'll be telling," I'd think. And the I'd shut my laptop and sleep.

Because boy howdy have I been sleeping lately! Thank goodness I have a wonderful co-parenting, slack picking up husband! And a daughter who still takes two hour naps everyday. Because my energy level wavers between almost normal and zzzzz. I forgot how impossible it is to get stuff done when you're passed out half the day.

So that's it! I'm in a family way, again. I'm just past the first trimester mark. We're all thrilled as could be, while at the same time trying to wrap our brains around having two kiddos.

And Tuesday we start off for a week and a half West Coast Tour. Which should be interesting.

I let you know how it goes.
