Life is Marbleous -- A Movie, An App, A Song

One of the many, many things that I meant to do before the holiday was to hip everyone to this really cool app called Life is Marbleous. A couple of years ago, my friends Mike and Andrew from Beef and Pie asked me to write a song for a documentary they were making called "Life is Marbleous." And so I did. It was called, quite appropriately, "Life is Marbleous."

It's all about the simple yet ample joys of the game of marbles. It follows avid lovers of those little glass spheres, including a woman named Cathy who is known far and wide as the "Marble Lady."

Recently they came up with a really cool way to get their documentary out there. They created a marble themed app. Win the game, and unlock the movie! Like i said, cool! As you play, you can listen to music that folks like Kevin Russell of the Gourds, The Meat Purveyors, Dale Watson, Carolyn Wonderland and myself wrote for the movie. You can even buy my song on iTunes.

FYI for local peeps, Beef and Pie also made a documentary called "Man on a Mission", about gaming entrepreneur Richard Garriot's quest to make it into space, just like his astronaut father. NASA wouldn't take him, and so he booked a flight on a Russian Soyuz and headed to the International Space Station. Pretty cool. It looks like they'll be screening it tonight at 7pm at the Alamo Drafthouse! And according to their Facebook, they'll also be showing Apogee of Fear, the first sci-fi movie actually shot in space, after the documentary.

For those of you not in the Austin Area, you can see if the film will be coming to your town soon.

Life. It is Marbleous.
